2012 Student Awards Luncheon

Governor Lynch Congratulates Upcoming NH-JAG Graduates


MANCHESTER, NH - May 1, 2012 - New Hampshire Jobs for America's Graduates (NH-JAG), held it Annual Student Leadership Awards Luncheon for 100 graduating seniors.  The awards luncheon is a culmination of various competitive events that students have taken part in during the last 4 months.  The events included interviewing competitions, public speaking and community service projects.

 

The Honorable John Lynch was on hand to provide opening remarks and congratulated each student for successfully completing their high school education.

 

Twelve students representing various high schools and middle schools throughout the state were also honored for their outstanding leadership qualities.  Students were selected by faculty at each of their schools for best exemplifying true leadership skills.  Dr. Susan Lynch, First Lady of New Hampshire presented each honoree with a plaque.

 

Mr. Tom Raffio, CEO of Northeat Delta Dental was the guest speaker.  He congratulated the students for their enthusiasm and community spirit and encouraged them to take action and achieve their goals.

 

One of the highlights of the event is the presentation of academic scholarships.  18 students received over $21,000 worth of scholarship awards from the Jason Sanderson Scholarship Fund, Bobby Stephen's St Patrick's Day Fund for Education and the Fight to Educate event.

 

NH-JAG is one of the few programs in the State that assists students in grades 7 through 12 with skills necessary to not only stay in school but to be prepared for the future beyond high school.  Students also receive assistance with career preparation, career awareness and career related competencies.  The overall goal of NH-JAG is to increase success for all students by assisting them to develop their skills and define a focus for the future.
